We believe it is important to do business in a sustainable and socially responsible manner. That means thinking about our impact on the environment. We believe it is our duty as an e-commerce company to be as transparent as possible, including regarding the environmental impact of our activities. An important part of this is how our tools are transported to our distribution center and how our packages are delivered to our customers.
For us, being sustainable means constantly striving for new efficient ways of sourcing, packaging and delivery to reduce our impact on the environment.
Import
Most of the tools and accessories we sell are imported by air freight from America to Amsterdam. The boxes and pallets are transported from the airport to our distribution center in Breda. Other products, which we buy in Europe, are transported by road. The CO2 emissions caused by these transports are included in our annual CO2 emissions compensation.
Deliver
The CO2 emissions for the delivery of one package within Europe is an average of 1,000 grams of CO2. Our carrier DPD ensures climate neutral shipment, but nevertheless we include our total CO2 emissions for the delivery of our packages in our annual CO2 emissions compensation.
Packing
In our warehouse we deal with all kinds of packaging materials, both paper and plastic. All our waste is strictly separated and processed correctly, so that all materials are recyclable. We opt for paper filling material for the firm and safe packaging of our products. The paper is reusable, easy to recycle and an environmentally friendly filling material.
Our shipping boxes are made of sustainable FSC cardboard according to the cradle-to-cradle principle. This means that raw materials are reused without loss of value. This way we know for sure that a felled forest will be restored to its former glory.
Compensation Environmental Impact
CO2 compensation is not a goal, but a means to compensate for the emissions that we cannot yet avoid. We are aware that CO2 compensation is not a solution to the climate problem, but it is still better than doing nothing.
We make an annual calculation of the CO2 that we emit through our activities using a CO2 calculator. We compensate for these emissions by supporting a certified project, which reduces CO2 emissions elsewhere.
